58 Karmann Ghia cabriolet. Body full of dents and dings. A later nose section has been welded on the front and the driver side fender has been replaced. There is little to no rust and the original floor pans are very solid. Little of the car is original as the engine has been replaced and numerous peices are either missing or broken or replaced with non-original equipment. The top mechanism is complete though in need of welding and the top is in tatters.

This L341 blue car is almost complete (missing some side trim pieces) with the original engine, trans, etc. I bought it as an "example" (nuts, bolts, screws, clips, etc.) to use when putting my other '58 (L354 red) together as it was completely disassembled when I got it. Ironically, this blue car was built two weeks prior to the red one. The blue car was originally shipped to VW of America while the red one stayed in Germany. How these two cars built so close together and shipped to opposite parts of the world ended up with me in the Arizona desert would make quite a story.

This Karmann-Ghia is a red/black German market coupe with only 22,000 original, documented miles.  It is as original, from body to interior to having the five original Continental whitewalls intact (and with lots of tread left!)  It is currently off the road for some minor body work (hand-sized dent in the right front corner), a fresh paint job (take care of nicks and scratches), and some rechroming, as it's been in storage for the last 34 years.  All numbers match, and every single part on it is original, save the fanbelt and US-spec headlights and laminated windscreen.

Very solid car with minor lower section rust. Minus engine (if anyone has a good
'58 engine, let me know). Seats have been redone and floors are solid. Someone had stripped a
lot of paint off and then it sat, so it had a lot of surface rust when I got it. Its mostly in
primer now and waiting on parts as I come by them as swap meets or on the internet.

(Description)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The original owner's parents bought the car in Germany as a graduation present for their son. He drove it until 1977 when I bought it from him. It needed the usual rust repairs seen in a Chicagoland VW, but i took the time to do them right, so the car looks original underneath. It was originally white, but the last time I repainted it, after a body off resto, I changed it to a flame red (non-stock color).
The engine blew up at ~120,000 miles, and it now has its' second 36 HP stocker, which I blueprinted. The trans is original, but I replaced the ring and pinion at ~130,000 mi.
At present the car is garaged, waiting for new feat upholstery and padding. Teh interior was shot when I got the car, so this is an opportunity to redo it correctly.

Project car with new engine and transmission. 12volt system (except for original dash clock). Interior, exterior, etc. redone. Floor pans have had panels welded in and inside pan is lined (truck bed liner). Shifter has reverse lock out. CD player with flip down face. Rear speakers are loose on rear bench, but can easily install in back panels (i'll even do it if you request as term of sale). Chrome (actually, it's aluminum) trim is included, but I never put it on after the paint job. I have over $3500 invested in the drivetrain alone (receipts to prove it if you want), but have to reduce the fleet due to job constraints.   New Fisher Buggies engine and transmission, less than 5000 miles on them.
(FOLLOWING INFORMATION SUBMITTED BY NEW OWNER)
I am third owner of this Ghia.  First owner bought it in Germany on 3 Jan. 58, a US spec Ghia.  It has the optional electric fuel gauge, has a complete spare tire tool kit with VW logo, original sales paperwork, Sept 57 owner's manual, and little red driving tips book.  Body is pretty straight, just a few dings and a few rust spots to watch.  No longer painted Brilliant Red, but is still a bright red. Got some work to do on this Ghia, but as of right now it is a good runner and I plan to have fun.

Description = I bougth the car from a son of the second owner who pass away about 15 years ago. As far as I know the car was produced at 19 November 1957 and delivered at 4 December 1957 to Brazil (this info came to me thanks to Dr. Manfred Grieger Dr. Ulrike Gutzmann of VW AG.)Originally painted red w/black roof, by now I am taking the car apart from the bottom in order to a full restoration. Is amaizing how well build those cars was, I found the body very straigth for a 44 years old guy left under the rain and sun for more than to years with out windshield, almost every important part is restorable a few ones are missing (tail ligths, bulb holders, head ligths and rearview mirros) I am plannig a full restoration doing the most by my self and spend 2 years and $6000, thats the deal (anything less is better)
